Pakistan’s mobile phone imports surge to $1.621 billion during the first ten months (July-April) of the current fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a massive 29.17% growth. During the same period last year, imports stood at $1.254 billion.
Furthermore, official data reveals similar trends in local currency. The total import value hit Rs. 455.727 billion between July and April. Consequently, this reflects a 30.29% growth compared to Rs. 349.768 billion last year.

Monthly Surges & Previous Declines in Mobile Phone Imports
Month-on-Month (MoM) data shows continuous growth. In April 2026, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $176.879 million. Therefore, the country witnessed an 18.84% rise from $148.832 million in March 2026.
Additionally, Year-on-Year (YoY) imports surged heavily. Mobile imports registered a 41.39% growth compared to $125.103 million in April 2025.
However, the previous fiscal year told a much different story. In FY 2024-25, mobile phone imports dropped by 21.31% to $1.494 billion. Previously, in FY 2023-24, Pakistan imported $1.898 billion worth of mobile phones.
In terms of Pakistani rupees, FY 2024-25 imports stood at Rs. 417.351 billion. This represents a 22.09% decline from Rs. 535.690 billion in FY 2023-24. Overall telecom imports also reflected this negative trend. The country imported $2.099 billion in telecom gear during FY 2024-25, showing an 11.30% drop from $2.366 billion in FY 2023-24.

Local Manufacturing Records Steady Growth
Meanwhile, local production continues to expand rapidly. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently released updated manufacturing data.
Pakistan’s mobile phone assembly sector recorded strong growth in March 2026. Local manufacturers assembled 2.79 million units during the month. This output highlights a robust 20% YoY growth compared to 2.33 million units in March 2025.
Overall, total production reached 7.36 million units during the first quarter of 2026. As a result, local assembly recorded a modest 2.0% increase over the exact same period last year.
