The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has opened a new registration center in the Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Karachi to improve public access to citizen registration and identity services.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the facility was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui along with provincial assembly members Muhammad Adil Askari, Aamir Siddiqui, and Rao Shaukat.
The new center features six one-window counters and is expected to handle around 250 to 300 visitors daily. Dedicated counters have also been established for Pak ID services and senior citizens, while a self-service counter allows applicants to process requests independently.
To assist citizens facing fingerprint verification issues, the facility includes an iris-based biometric verification system.
Officials said the center has been designed with accessibility features, including wheelchair access for persons with disabilities, along with a standby generator to maintain uninterrupted operations. The waiting area can accommodate up to 100 people.
The facility is expected to serve approximately 1.2 million to 1.5 million residents from Gulzar-e-Hijri, Jamali Bridge, Scheme 33, Super Highway, Al-Asif, and surrounding areas.
NADRA added that an evening shift may be introduced in the future to further improve service delivery and reduce waiting times.
