The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced new rules for computerized national identity cards (CNIC), making applicant signatures optional for the first time.
According to the details, applicants who choose not to provide signatures will have “NA” printed in the designated space on their identity cards during issuance.
NADRA confirmed fingerprint images will not be used due to fraud concerns, while awareness campaigns target illiterate applicants and those unable to sign.
Officials stated applicants submitting requests through the mobile app must avoid uploading fingerprint images, ensuring compliance with updated identification card issuance procedures.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the authority launched an awareness campaign for illiterate people and applicants unable to sign official identity documents properly today.
