Solar panel prices in Karachi have risen sharply ahead of the new financial year budget 2026-27, with each plate increasing by Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 according to market sources.
The 585-watt solar panel has increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 27,000, while the 645-watt panel has risen from Rs 22,000 to Rs 31,200 in the local market.
The 720-watt solar panel has similarly increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 33,500, reflecting a broad upward revision across all available wattage categories sold in Karachi markets.
Market sources have also warned that inverter prices are expected to rise in the near term, adding further financial pressure on consumers seeking solar energy installations.
The federal budget for the new financial year had proposed raising the GST rate on solar panels from 10 to 18 percent, a move that had already triggered market-level price adjustments.
Traders appear to have implemented the anticipated tax burden in advance, with prices adjusted upward in Karachi markets before the budget has been formally presented or passed.
