The federal government has proposed increasing the salaries of civil servants by 10 to 15 percent in the upcoming 2026-27 federal budget.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an informal, unannounced consultation meeting at the Prime Minister’s House to review the upcoming budget’s key elements.
The meeting covered several critical budget areas, including the Public Sector Development Programme, taxation policy, and proposed increases to salaries and pensions.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed the Prime Minister on major budget proposals, including the 10 to 15 percent salary increase tied to the current inflation rate.
The Prime Minister directed officials to assess available fiscal resources before finalising the exact level of relief that civil servants would receive this year.
The final decision on the salary increase will be taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif only after completing formal consultations with coalition partners.
