The Sindh government is considering a substantial relief package for public sector employees and pensioners in the upcoming provincial budget, with proposals suggesting salary and pension increases of up to 20 percent.
According to budget proposals under review, government employees and pensioners in Grades 1 to 16 may receive a 20 percent increase in salaries and pensions, while officers in Grades 17 to 22 are likely to get a 15 percent raise.
The proposed measures are part of broader efforts to provide financial relief amid rising living costs and inflationary pressures.
Sources indicate that the provincial government is also examining a revision of pay scales for employees from Grades 1 to 21, which could further improve compensation structures across various departments.
In addition to salary and pension adjustments, officials are considering a proposal to double the conveyance allowance for employees in Grades 1 to 16, a move aimed at helping lower-grade workers cope with increasing transportation expenses.
The proposals are expected to be reviewed by provincial authorities before the presentation of the Sindh Budget 2026-27, where a final decision will be announced.
The potential increase comes as provincial governments across Pakistan evaluate salary adjustments following expected relief measures in the federal budget. Employee unions and pensioners have been calling for significant raises to offset the impact of inflation and rising household expenses.
If approved, the package would provide relief to hundreds of thousands of government employees and retirees across Sindh.
