The federal government has allocated Rs430 billion for emergency and contingency requirements in Budget 2026-27, covering disaster response needs and fiscal provisions across multiple sectors.
The allocation comes after the IMF required Pakistan to introduce at least Rs430 billion, equivalent to $1.5 billion, in additional fiscal measures under budget reforms.
Alongside emergency provisions, the government has earmarked Rs2.478 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme 2026-27 for four ongoing climate-related projects nationwide.
The funding will support climate resilience, green entrepreneurship, institutional capacity development, and sustainable urban planning initiatives aimed at addressing growing environmental challenges nationwide.
A major portion of the allocation, amounting to Rs2.336 billion, has been reserved for the Green Pakistan Programme, the government’s flagship environmental initiative.
The Climate Change Division’s four funded schemes carry a combined approved cost of Rs123.619 billion, highlighting the government’s broader commitment toward climate action.
