The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has proposed a 7 percent increase in salaries and pensions for provincial government employees and retirees as part of its Budget 2026-27.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi while presenting the provincial budget in the KP Assembly on Friday.
According to the budget proposal, the increase will apply to government employees and pensioners across the province if approved by the provincial legislature.
The proposed raise is part of the government’s efforts to provide financial relief to public sector workers facing rising inflation and increasing living expenses. The measure is expected to benefit thousands of serving employees and retired government officials throughout the province.
The salary and pension adjustment was announced alongside the presentation of the province’s Rs2.17 trillion budget for fiscal year 2026-27, which includes increased allocations for development projects, healthcare, education, social welfare, and infrastructure initiatives.
Officials said the proposed increase reflects the government’s commitment to supporting public servants while balancing fiscal responsibilities and development priorities.
The budget will now undergo debate and review in the KP Assembly before being put to a vote. The salary and pension increase will only come into effect after the budget receives formal legislative approval.
