Gamers recently panicked over a massive price tag for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6. A Portuguese retailer, Fnac, published premature listings suggesting the game would start at €90. However, a reliable industry insider quickly dismissed this fake GTA 6 price rumor.
Yesterday, on June 21, well-known leaker Billbil-kun clarified the situation on X. He explained that these expensive listings are simply placeholder data. Consequently, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Looks like many people (including R*) are trying to disturb my holidays
Those SKUs are just placeholders bcz EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren’t belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixes
So those prices are random ones

The Truth Behind the Fake Retail Listings
Billbil-kun has a strong track record of accurately revealing gaming industry data. He noticed a major flaw in the Fnac listings. The leaked pages featured three different editions of GTA 6. Furthermore, they included European Article Numbers (EANs).
These EAN codes immediately exposed the listings as fake. Take-Two Interactive uses specific product-code prefixes for its traditional games. However, the EANs on the Fnac website do not match these established patterns. Therefore, the retailer clearly used random placeholder codes to build their web pages.
Baseless GTA 6 price leaks have circulated online since the summer of 2025. Still, none of these rumors have ever come from credible sources.
Official Pre-Orders & GTA 6 Price Expectations
Rockstar finally broke over a year of marketing silence last week on June 18. The developer officially confirmed that GTA 6 pre-orders will open later this week, on June 25. Despite this announcement, Rockstar did not share any actual pricing details. The studio will likely keep the final cost a secret until the pre-order window officially begins.
Meanwhile, analysts widely expect the game to launch in multiple editions. At least one higher-tier version will likely offer early access as a special purchase incentive. Interestingly, this early access benefit should only apply to the game’s online mode.
Rockstar plans to launch the single-player campaign worldwide at the exact same time for all players. Finally, the multiplayer component will likely arrive several weeks after the main base game.
