Xiaomi may bring a new privacy-focused display feature to its next flagship smartphones. A fresh leak suggests the company is testing a hardware-level privacy screen for the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series.
According to the source, the information was shared on Weibo. According to the tipster, Xiaomi is currently testing a new 2K display for a future Pro-series device. The display reportedly includes privacy screen technology similar to the feature found on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The new technology is expected to combine both hardware and software solutions. As a result, users could better protect on-screen content from people looking at their screens from the side.
Although the tipster did not directly name the Xiaomi 18 Pro lineup, comments in the Weibo discussion suggest the leak refers to Xiaomi’s next flagship series. The tipster also repeated an earlier claim that the new lineup will debut in September.
In addition to the privacy display, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are rumored to keep the secondary rear display introduced on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. However, reports indicate that the rear screen could increase in size to 4 inches.
Previous rumors have also revealed several key specifications. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are expected to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The Xiaomi 18 Pro could feature a 6.3-inch display and a battery rated at 7,000mAh or larger.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is tipped to arrive with a larger 6.9-inch display. Both flagship models are also rumored to include dual 200MP rear cameras, making them among Xiaomi’s most powerful camera-focused smartphones to date.
For now, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any of these details. However, if the latest leaks prove accurate, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series could bring major upgrades in both privacy and hardware when it launches later this year.
