A new report from a reliable source suggests Apple’s iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e could arrive with an unusual RAM setup. Both models are reportedly set to feature 9GB of RAM, marking a small upgrade over their predecessors.
According to Kuo, Apple will use six 1.5GB memory dies in both devices instead of four 2GB dies used in the iPhone 17 series. Although the configuration looks unusual, it still increases memory compared to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e.
The additional 1GB of RAM is expected to improve Apple Intelligence performance. As a result, AI features should run more smoothly on the upcoming smartphones.
Meanwhile, Apple’s high-end models will receive a larger memory upgrade. Kuo claims the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra will feature 12GB of RAM. These models will reportedly use eight 1.5GB memory dies.
The report also shares details about the processors. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected to run on Apple’s A20 chip. In comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra will reportedly feature the more powerful A20 Pro chip.
Apple has not confirmed these specifications. However, Kuo has a strong history of accurately reporting Apple’s future products. More details about the iPhone 18 lineup are likely to surface before its expected spring launch.
