A group of four women has been arrested in the federal capital Islamabad for allegedly posing as magistrates and collecting fines during fake inspection raids, police said.
The suspects carried out raids in the Tarnol area by pretending to be government officials. One of the women allegedly acted as a magistrate while the others accompanied her as part of the fake inspection team.
Police said the group inspected three hotels and collected large fines from the establishments. Authorities launched an operation after receiving information about the suspected activity.
The suspects attempted to flee when police moved to arrest them but were taken into custody. A case has been registered against all four women, who have been transferred to the Women Police Station.
Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
