New details about the Redmi Note 17 series have surfaced ahead of its expected launch later this month. According to recent leaks, Redmi will skip the Note 16 lineup and move directly to the Note 17 series. The upcoming lineup is expected to include four models. These are the Redmi Note 17, Redmi Note 17 Pro, Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, and Redmi Note 17R. However, some leaked specifications still conflict, especially for the Pro model.
The standard Redmi Note 17 could feature a flat 6.83-inch 1.5K display. Reports also suggest it will use either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 or the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. Since different leaks mention different processors, the final chipset remains unclear.
The phone is also expected to pack a 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. In addition, it may include a 50MP rear camera.
Meanwhile, the latest leak changes earlier details about the Redmi Note 17 Pro. A previous report claimed it would use the Dimensity 7500 chipset. However, the new information says the Pro model will instead feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor.
The updated report also suggests the Redmi Note 17 Pro will offer a 9,000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera. Therefore, both the standard and Pro models could share similar battery and camera hardware.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max may bring the biggest hardware upgrades. According to the latest leak, it will feature the Dimensity 7500 chipset instead of the Pro model.
The Pro Max is also expected to include a 200MP main camera and a massive 10,100mAh battery. It will reportedly use a flat 1.5K OLED display. However, the screen size has not been confirmed. It is still unclear if it will use the same 6.83-inch panel as the other models.
All Redmi Note 17 series phones are expected to ship with HyperOS 3.1 based on Android 16. They are also likely to include stereo speakers as standard. At the moment, there are no leaked specifications for the Redmi Note 17R.
For comparison, the Redmi Note 15 series included the Redmi Note 15, Redmi Note 15 Pro, and Redmi Note 15 Pro+. Redmi did not launch a Pro Max model in that lineup. The Redmi Note 15 used the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. Meanwhile, the Note 15 Pro featured the Dimensity 7400 Ultra, while the Note 15 Pro+ came with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4.
The two Pro models offered larger 6.83-inch 1280p+ OLED displays and 200MP cameras. In contrast, the standard Redmi Note 15 featured a 6.77-inch 1080p+ OLED display and a 108MP camera.
Battery sizes also varied across the previous generation. The Redmi Note 15 included a 5,520mAh battery. The Note 15 Pro packed a 6,580mAh battery, while the Note 15 Pro+ offered 6,500mAh. If the latest leaks are accurate, the Redmi Note 17 series will deliver a major battery upgrade with capacities reaching 9,000mAh and even 10,100mAh.
