The Pakistan Airport Authority has sealed the office of K2 Airways following the crash of the companys cargo plane. Sources said the authority took the action to halt office operations until the investigation into the crash is completed.
The Boeing 737 cargo plane was flying from Sharjah to Karachi when it crashed into the sea near Ormara. Officials said the crash occurred due to a fault in the navigation system. Pilots Rizwan Idrees and Faisal Jatoi were operating the aircraft, which was carrying five crew members.
The plane lost contact with air traffic control at 9:21 pm during its flight from Sharjah to Karachi last night. Relevant authorities have launched a search and rescue operation to locate the aircraft and its crew.
The Pakistan Navy, Air Force and a merchant vessel are taking part in the search operation. Two Navy ships and one ATR aircraft are also involved in the search efforts.
