Google has officially confirmed the Pixel 11 name and shared a short teaser video for its next smartphones. The company posted the clip on the homepage of its online store, just days after announcing its launch event in New York City on August 12.
The teaser gives the first look at a new feature called Pixel Glow. According to the video, the feature uses a circular LED light that can display a full range of colors. It appears to work as a notification light, allowing users to see alerts through different lighting effects.
Google has not shared all the details about Pixel Glow yet. However, the full-color LED system could let users assign different colors to different apps and notifications. The company has not confirmed these customization options.
The teaser is also important for another reason. This is the first time Google has officially confirmed the Pixel 11 branding. Until now, the device name had only appeared in leaks and reports.
Google also announced that pre-orders for the Pixel 11 series will begin on August 12, the same day as the launch event in New York City.
Meanwhile, Google is offering an early promotion for customers in the United States. Users who visit the Google Store homepage and enter their email address before August 7 at 11:59 PM PT will receive a special promo code on August 12. The code can be used to purchase the new devices until August 27 at 11:59 PM PT.
The Pixel 11 series is expected to be one of Google’s biggest smartphone launches this year. More details about the new phones and the Pixel Glow feature will likely be revealed during the August 12 event.
