Airlink Communication Limited recently made a major move in the local tech sector. Airlink officially announced the establishment of a new electric bike manufacturing plant. They will produce these electric vehicles under their proprietary brand name, ‘AirV’. Furthermore, Airlink disclosed this development through an official notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) earlier today.
Airlink Setting Up Electric Bike Shop in Lahore
The project requires the creation of an advanced electric bike assembly plant. Airlink will build this new facility at its existing manufacturing site. This site operates inside the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone (SGSEZ) in Lahore.
Consequently, this initiative aligns perfectly with the company’s long-term strategy. Airlink actively wants to diversify its manufacturing portfolio. Therefore, they are moving into emerging, technology-driven mobility solutions. Ultimately, the company aims to capitalize on the rapidly growing demand for electric vehicles across Pakistan.
To execute this vision, the board of directors fully authorized the management team. Moving forward, the management will undertake all the necessary regulatory, commercial, and operational activities to implement the project successfully.
A History of Tech Expansion
Historically, Airlink Communication Limited entered the Pakistani market as a private limited company in January 2014. Subsequently, the firm converted into a public limited company in April 2019.
Traditionally, the company engages heavily in communication and IT-related products. They manage the import, export, distribution, indenting, wholesale, and retail of major tech hardware. Their primary lineup includes smartphones, cellular phones, tablets, and various laptop accessories.
Besides this new EV venture, Airlink has consistently expanded its corporate footprint over time. Just last year, the company approved the incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary. They officially named this new entity ZEXO Technologies (Private) Limited. Additionally, Airlink backed this subsidiary with an authorized investment of Rs 200 million.
