The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a strong recovery on Monday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index rebounded sharply following last week’s decline, driven by improved investor sentiment and renewed buying activity.
The KSE-100 Index closed at 178,262.33 points, gaining 7,241.13 points or 4.23 percent during the session. The rally was supported by broad-based buying across major sectors as investors responded positively to easing concerns and attractive market valuations.
The recovery came after a difficult week in which the benchmark index fell by nearly 2.7 percent due to rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, volatility in global oil prices, and investor caution ahead of Pakistan’s monetary policy announcement.
Market sentiment improved after concerns partially eased, encouraging investors to return to equities and increase exposure to key sectors.
Among the major contributors to the index’s gains were United Bank Limited (UBL), Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), Engro Holdings (ENGROH), Meezan Bank Limited (MEBL), and Lucky Cement (LUCK). Together, these companies contributed around 2,546 points to the benchmark index.
Trading activity remained strong throughout the session, with total market volume reaching 1.032 billion shares. The overall traded value stood at approximately Rs. 41.01 billion, reflecting increased participation from investors.
Analysts said the strong recovery highlighted renewed confidence in heavyweight stocks and improved market expectations following recent economic developments.
The positive momentum marked a significant turnaround for the PSX after recent volatility, with investors closely watching upcoming monetary policy decisions and economic indicators.
