Commercial banks provided financial relief worth Rs. 762.76 million to customers during the first half of 2026 after the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan resolved 18,482 complaints against banking institutions.
According to data released by the Banking Mohtasib, the office received 21,392 new complaints between January and June 2026, showing a 26.5 percent increase compared with 16,915 complaints recorded during the same period last year.
The complaints included 4,005 cases submitted through the Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal, highlighting continued public engagement with available grievance redressal platforms.
Banking Mohtasib Sirajuddin Aziz urged customers to remain cautious against rising incidents of banking fraud and advised them not to share personal, account, or financial information with unknown individuals.
He recommended that customers receiving suspicious calls immediately contact their bank branches or official helplines for verification.
Aziz also warned customers about fraudulent calls claiming to represent banks. He clarified that official bank helpline call centres generally do not make outbound calls, and customers should remain cautious if they receive calls displaying a bank’s universal access number (UAN).
The Banking Mohtasib continues to encourage customers to report banking-related complaints and follow security measures to protect themselves from financial scams.
