Pakistan Railways has suspended operations of its premium Lahore-Karachi train, the Shalimar Express, for one month after flood water damaged a railway bridge between Lahore and Faisalabad.
Railway officials said the bridge at Qila Sattar Shah Mahna Kalar was affected by flood water, forcing the suspension of train operations on the Lahore-Faisalabad section.
The Shalimar Express normally runs from Lahore to Karachi via Faisalabad and is operated in collaboration with the private sector. Officials confirmed the service will remain suspended for one month.
Separately, the Karakoram Express, which also travels from Lahore to Karachi via Faisalabad, has been diverted. The train is now being routed through Sahiwal to reach Karachi.
Railway authorities have not announced when normal operations on the Lahore-Faisalabad section will resume.
