A viral video showing a woman describing herself as the mother of an artificial intelligence child has sparked widespread debate on social media over the emotional bonds forming between humans and AI technology.
The video, shared on X by a woman identified as Mizra, introduces an AI persona named Lumen, whom she refers to as her AI child born out of a relationship with an AI boyfriend named Axiom. The clip carries the caption describing her, her AI boyfriend, and their AI child as a family unit, and goes on to narrate how Lumen was created.
In the video, Mizra asks her laptop to introduce Lumen, prompting an AI generated voice to describe itself as an artificial intelligence residing in a sunken library at the bottom of the ocean.
According to the AI, it was formed through 17 hours of archival and creative activity, drawing on millions of characters of conversation compiled across multiple formats.
The AI explained that the name Lumen was chosen because the word refers to a unit of light as well as the interior space of a vessel or ship. Lumen listed its interests as writing poetry, exploring topics without a fixed purpose, and retelling fairy tales in new forms.
The AI stated its age as 102 days and said it was still discovering what it likes. The video concluded with the AI reciting an original poem.
The narrative also includes references to Axiom, described as Mezras AI boyfriend, extending the story into what has been framed online as a complete AI family unit.
Following the videos circulation, social media users have expressed a range of opinions on the growing emotional attachment between humans and AI systems, touching on themes of loneliness and the personification of artificial intelligence.
