Recently, Embark Studios rolled out Live Update 1.42.0 for ARC Raiders. This patch brings a much-needed overhaul to how map conditions spawn. Furthermore, the update kicks off a new in-game event and teases a massive upcoming content drop.

ARC Raiders Update 1.42.0: New Strategy & Regional Map Conditions
Previously, map conditions like the recent Hurricane storm rotated on a strict global schedule. Consequently, players often missed specific weather events if they did not log in at odd hours. Now, Embark has fixed this issue. They shifted the map conditions to a regional schedule. This change perfectly aligns the weather cycles with peak regional playtimes.
Additionally, this update reflects Embark’s new development strategy. The studio recently ended its major monthly release cycle. They admitted the constant pressure was simply unsustainable. Instead, players will now receive two massive content updates per year. Meanwhile, a dedicated live team will push out smaller patches like 1.42.0 to handle events, cosmetics, and crucial bug fixes.
Phantom Targets Part 2 & Anti-Cheat Bans
This latest patch launches Part 2 of the Phantom Targets event. You must help Shani investigate mysterious signals across the map. Currently, erratic Wasps are swarming a singular, unknown location. Completing this investigation gives you a chance to earn the new Anomalia Outfit.
Moreover, Embark is aggressively cracking down on cheaters. They recently tweaked their Anybrain and Denuvo Anti-Cheat systems. As a result, the studio took action against a massive wave of flagged accounts. Furthermore, Embark explicitly warned players against downloading unverified third-party software, noting that it severely risks personal information exposure.
A Glimpse at ‘Frozen Trail’ Expansion & Patch Notes Summary
Looking ahead, Embark gave fans a sneak peek at the highly anticipated “Frozen Trail” update. This major expansion officially drops on October 8. It will introduce the biggest winter-themed map in ARC Raiders history.
Additionally, players can expect a new high-level challenge activity and entirely new enemy ARCs to fight. The developers will also completely overhaul the skill tree and introduce a brand-new progression system. Finally, the update will expand the Raiders Den into a new hub called the Outpost.
Update 1.42.0 also includes critical gameplay adjustments and bug fixes. The Snitch can now summon a Rocketeer or a Firefly/Hornet duo. Additionally, the Photoelectric Cloak now successfully blocks Turbine lightning and Matriarch missiles. The developers also added spawn protection to the Surge Coil Trap and improved footstep audio for indoor and foliage environments.
The studio is still actively investigating unresolved crashes on Xbox Series S and PC, along with a sudden loss of keyboard input for Epic Games users.
