The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is considering a proposal to launch an inter-district BRT service on motorways to improve connectivity between Peshawar and other districts.
According to a provincial government spokesperson, the proposed service would connect Peshawar with Mardan, Nowshera and Swat through the motorway network.
The Transport Department will conduct a feasibility study to assess the proposed project. The study will examine the estimated cost, proposed routes, locations for BRT stations and other technical requirements.
Officials said the service could provide a convenient transportation option for thousands of passengers traveling between Peshawar and surrounding districts.
Transport Department officials believe operating the BRT service through the motorway network could be easier and more efficient than using the GT Road. The proposed system could potentially reduce travel difficulties and improve connectivity between Peshawar and nearby districts.
However, the project is still at the consideration stage. The feasibility study will determine whether the proposed service is practical, along with its routes, cost and infrastructure requirements.
The government is expected to make further decisions after reviewing the findings of the feasibility study.
