The Sandal Express has resumed operations after an eight-year suspension, restoring rail connectivity between Sargodha and Multan and providing passengers with a more affordable travel option.
The restoration ceremony was held at railway stations in Jhang and Sargodha, where a large number of citizens gathered to welcome the return of the train service.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said the restoration of the Sandal Express reflected the government’s commitment to improving public services and strengthening transportation links.
He said the revival of suspended railway services was part of a broader government effort to improve connectivity and facilitate passengers across different parts of the country.
The restored service is expected to particularly benefit passengers in Jhang and other districts along the Sargodha-Multan route, providing an economical mode of intercity transportation.
During the ceremony, Abbasi also inaugurated the upgraded Jhang Railway Station.
The station’s improvement was funded by Dr. Mohazam Waheed Sheikh, administrator of Red Crescent Hospital Jhang and a businessman, as a contribution toward improving public facilities in the city.
The restoration of the Sandal Express marks another step in efforts to revive suspended railway services and improve passenger connectivity across Punjab.
