Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is fast approaching its November 19 release date. However, the highly anticipated game is facing another massive security breach. Recently, six new gameplay clips hit the internet. Furthermore, the entire map of Vice City leaked online. One specific clip from the GTA 6 gameplay leaks even shows a player shooting the word “leek” into an underpass wall.
Consequently, Take-Two Interactive is taking aggressive action. The publisher is not simply issuing standard internet takedowns. Instead, they are actively hunting for the source of the breach.
Subpoenas Target Microsoft & Discord
Two days ago, on August 20, Take-Two filed DMCA subpoenas in the Southern District Court of New York. As Kotaku first reported, these legal filings directly target Microsoft and Discord.
Take-Two wants answers. Therefore, the company is demanding a wide range of private user data. This includes account details, email addresses, IP addresses, and phone numbers. Moreover, the publisher wants linked accounts, device identifiers, and Microsoft OneDrive data. These subpoenas specifically cover user activity dating back to June 1, 2026.
Take-Two submitted a sworn declaration alongside the filings. The company confirmed it seeks the identities of these alleged infringers strictly to protect its copyrights. These copyrights cover audiovisual content, artwork, dialogue, and other creative elements.
The Hunt for “Cyberleek” After GTA 6 Gameplay Leaks
The legal filings highlight a very specific target. Take-Two is officially investigating an alias known as “Cyberleek”. Additionally, the company is targeting several specific Discord servers and communities connected to the leaked footage.
Microsoft and Discord now face a strict legal deadline. Both companies must hand over the requested records by September 4.
Meanwhile, rumors continue to circulate online. Some fans speculate this entire situation could be an elaborate PR stunt for an upcoming “Netflix Extended look“. This theory gains traction because a massive 2022 data breach previously served as the world’s first actual look at GTA 6. If the leaker truly has deep access, and if the companies comply after the Netflix event, more leaks will likely hit the internet soon.
Currently, Rockstar Games remains completely silent. The developer has not issued a public comment regarding these specific leaks. However, Take-Two’s aggressive legal response proves the parent company is taking this situation extremely seriously.
