Huawei has confirmed that its next tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT2, will launch next month. The company will unveil the device in China on September 7. Huawei shared the launch date in a Weibo post. The event will also feature HarmonyOS 7, Huawei’s recently announced operating system.
The company has not shared full details about the Mate XT2 yet. However, recent reports suggest it could use a new folding design. Unlike the original Mate XT, the Mate XT2 is rumored to feature an inward-folding mechanism. This design could give the phone a cover display and a large internal flexible screen.
The device is also expected to feature a large circular camera module on its center panel. This could give the Mate XT2 a different look from its predecessor. The Mate XT2 is rumored to use Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. The tri-fold phone could also include a triple rear camera system.
Battery life may be another key upgrade. The Mate XT2 is tipped to feature a battery with a capacity of 6,000mAh or higher. Huawei has not confirmed these specifications yet. More information about the Mate XT2 is expected to emerge ahead of its September 7 launch.
