The Sindh government has decided to expand public transportation across the province, with new Peoples Bus Service routes expected to become operational soon.
Senior Sindh Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired a meeting of the Transport Department to review plans for expanding public transport and improving travel facilities for residents.
Officials briefed the meeting on several ongoing and planned transport initiatives, including the Peoples Bus Service, double-decker buses, electric vehicle (EV) taxi service, Pink Scooties and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
The Peoples Bus Service will soon begin operating on the Qambar Shahdadkot-Larkana route, with buses already arriving in Larkana, according to officials.
Authorities are also finalizing arrangements for the arrival and operation of double-decker buses. The meeting reviewed the proposed operational model for the EV taxi service and preparations for its launch.
Memon directed officials to complete all necessary arrangements within the given timeline to ensure the timely launch of bus services on new routes.
The minister said the Sindh government is working to expand the Peoples Bus Service to provide residents with better and more accessible transportation facilities.
During the meeting, Memon also announced that Pink Scooties would be distributed in Mirpurkhas on September 5. He described the initiative as an important step toward empowering women and improving their access to education, employment and other essential activities.
The expansion of public transport services is expected to improve connectivity between cities and provide residents with more affordable and convenient travel options across Sindh.
