Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has engaged Japanese business giant Sumitomo Corporation to explore investment opportunities in the country’s mining and minerals sector.
The engagement is part of SIFC’s efforts to attract international investors to strategic economic sectors and facilitate their participation in commercially viable projects. The council is sharing details of identified projects, investment opportunities and Pakistan’s investment environment with prospective investors.
Sumitomo Corporation is a Tokyo-based Japanese trading and investment conglomerate. Its engagement with SIFC could open avenues for greater Japanese participation in Pakistan’s mineral resources and mining projects.
Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector offers investment opportunities across exploration, resource development, mineral processing, value addition and downstream industrial activities. SIFC is seeking increased international participation to develop these areas and unlock the sector’s economic potential.
The council has highlighted investment facilitation measures, dedicated security arrangements and policy continuity as key steps toward creating a more predictable environment for foreign businesses.
SIFC said its engagement with Sumitomo Corporation reflects growing international interest in Pakistan’s mineral potential. The initiative also highlights the council’s efforts to connect foreign investors with viable projects and help transform identified opportunities into commercially sustainable investments.
