Authorities in Punjab have ordered a complete physical inspection of every school in the province, part of a new monitoring drive aimed at tightening oversight of teaching standards, facilities and security across the public education system.
Under the plan, Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) have been directed to personally visit all schools within their respective jurisdictions and submit full monthly inspection reports through the monitoring app, with 100 percent upload compliance required. The move signals a shift toward stricter, technology-tracked accountability for field officers overseeing school performance.
The inspections will go beyond routine checks, evaluating the quality of teaching as well as the physical condition of school buildings. Officers will examine cleanliness in classrooms, washrooms, grounds, lawns and rooftops, and will inspect electrical systems, including fans, lights, switches, sockets and wiring, to ensure they are in working order.
Access to clean drinking water and functional washrooms will also be verified as part of the checklist.
Security has been made a central component of the drive. AEOs must confirm that schools are complying with security standard operating procedures and that installed CCTV cameras and other security equipment are fully operational.
Every AEO has been instructed to complete a 100 percent physical inspection of all schools under their charge, with no exceptions permitted.
Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities have, in turn, been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the directive across their districts, underscoring the administration’s push to hold field-level officers accountable for on-ground conditions in schools.
