A rechecking request has altered the results of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore matriculation examinations, moving a Model Town student into third position after officials found a marking oversight on her exam paper.
Afia Naeem, a student at a private institution in Model Town, had initially been awarded 1,187 marks when the Lahore Board announced its matric results. Dissatisfied with the outcome, she filed a formal rechecking request, a process available to students who wish to have their examined papers reviewed for potential errors.
The review uncovered that two marks in one section of her paper had never been recorded, despite the corresponding answers having been attempted. The Lahore Board confirmed the discrepancy and, following standard procedure for verified rechecking claims, formally revised her total to 1,189 marks.
The two-mark correction proved decisive: it lifted Afia Naeem from outside the top rankings into third position among all matriculation candidates under the Lahore Board this year. Position holders in board examinations are typically determined by narrow margins, making individual marks significant in the final standings.
The Lahore Board has said it will hold a formal ceremony to recognize the achievement of Afia Naeem, in line with the practice of honouring top-performing students at board-level events.
