City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched a strict crackdown against underage and unlicensed drivers across the district on the directives of Punjab DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir.
Under the new enforcement measures, police will issue traffic challans to individuals found driving motorcycles or other vehicles without valid licenses or while underage. The vehicles involved will also be impounded and shifted to the relevant police stations.
Police officials said motorcycles seized from juvenile riders will only be released after the production of the required juvenile permit. Traffic police will also assist motorcycle riders in obtaining driving licenses during traffic stops, particularly in areas outside licensing offices.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam clarified that a learner’s permit does not authorize individuals to drive motorcycles or vehicles on public roads. He said driving without a valid license or driving while underage is a violation of the law.
According to the CTO, underage drivers often lack the maturity and ability to make quick decisions, increasing the risk of serious road accidents. He said strict enforcement is aimed at reducing accidents and improving road safety across Rawalpindi.
Farhan Aslam urged citizens to obtain valid driving licenses from the nearest licensing centre and advised parents to prevent underage children from driving motorcycles and cars.
