Activision just revealed a massive update for ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’. Soon, players will get a brand-new setting called the ‘Operator Toggle’. This feature essentially allows fans to turn off controversial and “goofy” cosmetics.
Over the years, operator skins have sparked intense debates. Franchises like Call of Duty rely heavily on these cosmetics for revenue. Consequently, players have seen wild crossovers ranging from ‘Nicki Minaj’ to ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’. Many fans felt the franchise strayed too far from its roots. In fact, this ongoing backlash even prompted rival games like ‘Battlefield’ to announce strict cosmetic plans before launching new titles. Thankfully, Activision is finally giving players a practical way to deal with the visual clutter.
How the New Call of Duty: Warzone Operator Toggle Works
The Operator Toggle will officially launch during Season 1 of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV’. Essentially, this setting acts as a visual filter. When you enable it, you will only see a Modern Warfare IV operator skin on other players. This happens even if they have equipped a flashy cosmetic from a previous game.

Furthermore, this filter covers everyone in your game. It affects enemy players, teammates, and squadmates. It functions perfectly both during live matches and while waiting in the lobby. Currently, the Operator Toggle is strictly launching for Warzone. Activision has not announced any plans to bring this specific functionality to standard multiplayer modes yet.
The Return of Carry Forward
Alongside the visual toggle, Activision confirmed the return of the Carry Forward feature. Starting in Season 1, you can still use your favorite operators and weapons from ‘Modern Warfare II’, ‘Modern Warfare III’, ‘Black Ops 6’, and ‘Black Ops 7’.
Players will access these older weapons through the Legacy tab in Warzone. However, there is a small catch. Warzone will no longer support Gunsmith functionality or custom loadouts for these legacy items. Instead, the game will provide a tailored five-attachment version of every legacy base weapon. Additionally, you can still use your legacy weapon blueprints with their pre-existing attachment setups.
A Grounded Future for Modern Warfare IV
Moving forward, Infinity Ward promises a much more realistic approach. The studio confirmed that Modern Warfare IV will only feature grounded cosmetics and sensible collaborations. Specifically, developers clarified that every aspect of the new game remains strictly anchored in its core narrative.
This core narrative is already shaping up to be incredibly intense. The campaign features numerous factions battling it out across the globe. Initial trailers highlighted a massive conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Since then, recent footage revealed even higher stakes. Fan favorites ‘John Price’ and ‘Valeria Garza’ are currently being hunted by their former ally, ‘Ghost’, alongside his new Task Force. Finally, a brand-new story trailer surprised fans by confirming actor ‘Mads Mikkelsen’ as a primary antagonist for Modern Warfare IV.
