We are just one month away from the highly anticipated November release of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6. Rockstar Games has spent months showcasing its next-generation open world. Now, Take-Two Interactive has stepped in and recently released a new official statement. This statement clarifies the future of GTA 6 Online, the PC release strategy, and the current iteration of GTA Online.
A Strictly Single-Player Launch
GTA 6 will launch this November strictly as a single-player title. Therefore, players will initially focus entirely on the core narrative. The story centers around dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia. Furthermore, they will explore a returning Vice City and a massively expanded state of Leonida. Rockstar designed this map to be massive. In fact, it scales well beyond the vast size of Red Dead Redemption 2.
However, the developers did not just focus on raw map size. Instead, they built the world around dense detailing. Players will encounter highly complex NPCs, diverse activities, and deep interactions. According to Take-Two, this dynamic single-player experience forms the true heart and soul of the game.
The Future of GTA Online & GTA 6 Multiplayer
Take-Two is deliberately separating the single-player launch from its online business. Currently, Rockstar has not officially revealed a release date, launch window, or name for a GTA 6 multiplayer mode.
Meanwhile, the existing version of GTA Online is not going anywhere. Take-Two explicitly confirmed that they will continue supporting the current GTA Online after GTA 6 releases and beyond. The current multiplayer version remains incredibly lucrative. As a result, the company will maintain active support for it.
Still, some details about Rockstar’s unreleased multiplayer work have surfaced. Recently, legal filings from a company employment dispute referenced a highly confidential “online 32-player format”. The filing does not explicitly name GTA 6 Online. Moreover, it remains unconfirmed if 32 players will serve as the final lobby cap. Nevertheless, it stands as the clearest public reference to Rockstar’s upcoming multiplayer framework.
What About the GTA 6 PC Release?
Currently, Rockstar has not announced an official PC version for GTA 6. However, Take-Two addressed the platform directly in their recent statement. The company’s general strategy is to launch games on any platform that holds a “meaningful audience” over time.
Furthermore, Take-Two emphasized a shifting focus within the company. They explicitly stated that the PC platform is becoming increasingly important to their overall operations. Therefore, while a PC port remains shrouded in mystery for now, a future release seems inevitable as long as the platform remains viable.
We will have to wait and see what Rockstar Games does when it comes to GTA 6 Online and a PC release. Until then, we will keep you updated on all future GTA 6 developments. Stay tuned to TechJuice for timely updates.
