The Iconic Shipment Map Returns in Modern Warfare 4
Developers originally introduced Shipment in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The map takes place in a shipping yard near Chernobyl, Ukraine. Interestingly, developers initially created this compact layout as a testing ground. It quickly gained extreme notoriety for its frantic and fast-paced action. Players can sprint to the opposite side of the map in mere seconds. Therefore, enemies sometimes gun down players the exact moment they respawn. Naturally, this map divides the community. Some players express frustration over the chaos. Meanwhile, others absolutely love the small size and multi-mode support.
Today’s full launch brings an impressive roster of 20 multiplayer maps. Players can currently choose from exciting locations like Sentry, Kill Block, and Rooftops. Next week, Shipment will increase the total map count to 21. Furthermore, Shipment will fully support all Core and Hardcore game modes. This includes classic Team Deathmatch alongside new modes like Collateral and Inflation.
Despite Shipment’s slight delay, players face a lengthy patch download today before accessing multiplayer. Infinity Ward released detailed patch notes highlighting major changes from the Beta period. Specifically, the developers added a new Proving Grounds course. This area provides combat training and movement exercises to test game controls. Additionally, player feedback drove significant weapon system updates. As a result, SMGs now stand out as a highly effective choice for close to mid-range combat.
Fast Progression & Weapon Camos
Shipment will keep its famously compact design. Therefore, players can utilize the map to rapidly earn camos and cosmetics. Earning gun camos now directly ties to weapon level rather than total headshot counts. Fortunately, players can quickly rack up Weapon XP on Shipment.
Moreover, players can unlock special weapon camos completely independently of standard military camos. Afterward, they can apply these special camos to any weapon. For instance, players unlock the Smoke Camo by securing 75 mounted weapon kills in DMZ or 20 kills in standard multiplayer modes.
Finally, gamers who pre-purchased the title already secured a solid head start. Early access allowed players to boost their Player, Weapon, and Rank XP through DMZ. Ultimately, this head start enables much faster unlocking of multiplayer modes as the full game goes live today.
