The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has approved the New National Curriculum of Pakistan (NNCP) 2026, which will be introduced from the 2027-28 academic year in public and private schools.
The revised curriculum will cover Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) through Grade 5 in Islamabad and educational institutions operating under federal administration across the country. Urdu, English, and mathematics will remain core subjects, alongside health and physical education, arts, and crafts.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will also be introduced for students in Grades 1 to 5. Students in Grades 1 to 3 will study a subject titled “The World Around Us,” while science and social studies will be taught separately in Grades 4 and 5.
The ministry has notified all provincial governments, including Punjab, about the curriculum’s implementation. The approved curriculum will be available on the National Curriculum Council’s (NCC) official website.
