The Balochistan government has dismissed another 72 doctors for persistent absenteeism following the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based attendance monitoring system in the provincial health department. The latest action brings the total number of employees dismissed over attendance violations to 200.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced the decision on social media platform X, saying the AI-powered system was helping identify employees who repeatedly failed to report for duty. He added that the government had deducted Rs410 million from the salaries of public-sector employees over attendance and disciplinary violations.
According to Bugti, around 11,000 government employees have received notices seeking explanations for attendance violations, while disciplinary proceedings are underway against another 800 employees. He said public servants would be held accountable for performing their duties and would not be allowed to receive salaries without attending work.
The provincial government introduced the AI-based monitoring system to improve attendance, strengthen accountability and support the delivery of public services, particularly in the healthcare sector.
