Fans of the classic 2005 action-horror game can now experience the iconic story with a friend. Developer Darksoul309222 released the Resident Evil 4 Multiplayer Co-Op Mod via Nexus Mods on October 13. Consequently, two players can share the exact same world instance simultaneously. Together, they fight back against the Las Plagas-infected villagers and Los Iluminados cultists to save Ashley Graham. Although the modern remake remains the definitive story experience, this mod gives veteran players a fantastic reason to revisit the 21-year-old masterpiece.
Resident Evil 4 Multiplayer Mod Limitations & PC Compatibility
The new mod completely avoids split-screen gameplay. Instead, it places both players in the identical game environment. However, the mod forces both participants to control Leon Kennedy. Therefore, player two cannot choose alternate characters like Ada or Ashley. Furthermore, players must run PC version 1.1.0 without modifying the executable file. Fortunately, the multiplayer addition remains compatible with most other existing mods. Moreover, the developer plans to add even more compatibility in future updates. Meanwhile, fans seeking a modern experience can utilize a similar multiplayer mod for the recent remake.
Historically, Capcom officially introduced co-op gameplay in Resident Evil 5. Eventually, titles like Resident Evil 6, Revelations 2, and Operation Raccoon City expanded on this cooperative formula. Now, modders have successfully retrofitted that cooperative action-horror style into the 2005 classic. Beyond fan creations, Capcom will release a $1,699.99 Leon Kennedy diorama later this year. Additionally, the broader franchise anticipates exciting future releases. Specifically, Capcom confirmed Resident Evil Veronica for production. Furthermore, insiders leaked a future Resident Evil Requiem DLC. In the meantime, gamers can boot up their PC and enjoy Leon’s terrifying Spanish village journey alongside a partner.
