The Sindh College Education Department has announced a holiday for public and private educational institutions across the province on Monday, November 9, 2026, to mark Iqbal Day. According to an official notification, all institutions operating under the department’s administrative control will remain closed, and academic activities will be suspended for the day.
The announcement follows the federal government’s decision to observe a nationwide public holiday on November 9. The Cabinet Division had already included Iqbal Day in its annual holiday schedule issued on January 19, 2026.
Since the holiday falls on Monday, students and staff at institutions observing Saturday and Sunday as weekly holidays will enjoy a three-day break from November 7 to 9. Regular academic activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, November 10.
Iqbal Day is observed annually on November 9 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. The day recognizes his contributions to poetry, philosophy, and the intellectual development of Muslims in the subcontinent.
