Apple could remove the dedicated action button from future iPhones and combine its functions with camera control. According to a new leak on Weibo, the change could arrive in the second half of 2027.
Apple introduced the Action button with the iPhone 15 Pro. The feature has remained available on the iPhone 18 Pro. However, next year’s models could receive a different button layout.
The tipster claims Apple plans to move the Action button’s functions to Camera Control. A single press would open the Camera app, while a long press would activate the shortcut assigned to the Action button.
Notably, the leak suggests Apple will remove the Action button, not Camera Control. This means users could retain its customizable functions through a single physical button.
However, the post does not mention specific iPhone models. Therefore, it remains unclear whether the change will affect the entire 2027 lineup. Apple could also limit it to selected models.
Meanwhile, previous reports suggest Apple’s 2027 Pro models could receive a major redesign. The company has reportedly tested prototypes featuring quad-curved displays.
It is still unclear whether the rumored button changes will be part of that redesign. Apple has yet to confirm either development.
