It is a proud moment for Pakistan and Pakistanis that a team from Pakistan has qualified for Asia’s robotics competition. The team which has qualified for the tournament is from the Capital University of Science & Technology(CUST), an educational institution located in Islamabad.

A local competition between different IT universities was held to check which of the institution is better suited for the Robotics competition. Apart from CUST, famous educational institutions such as NUST, FAST and UET etc participated in the tournament, which was locally organized by Pakistan Television (PTV).

The projects of the above-mentioned universities were viewed by high-level committee and then the decision was taken in the favor of CUST.

The Robotics competition is known as Robocon and is one of the biggest of robotics competitions in Asia. Universities from 22 countries will take part in the tournament including tech hub country like Japan to show off their engineering skills in robotics’ field. The tournament is organized by the Asian Broadcast Union. Robotics competition will be held in Tokyo and will kick off from 27th August.

It is worth mentioning here that this is not a first time a Pakistani team has qualified for an International robotics competition. Two years back, a team from NUST had also qualified for RoboCup, an annual international soccer robotics competition.

Robocon sets a different theme each year for the competition. This time the theme is “asobi” meaning “play”.

We wish Pakistani team all the best for the competition
