The Asian Development Bank and the National Highway Authority have signed an agreement to develop two sections of the M6 Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The agreement was signed by Emma Fan and Ijaz Ahmed, with senior officials from both sides attending the ceremony.
Under the arrangement, ADB will provide advisory support for the project, including:
- Feasibility studies
- Development of a bankable PPP structure
- Transparent procurement support
- Assistance toward commercial and financial closure
Officials said the support is aimed at attracting private sector participation and ensuring efficient project execution.
The project includes construction of a 120-kilometer six-lane motorway starting from Hyderabad, featuring modern tolling systems, traffic management infrastructure, and road safety measures.
Authorities say the motorway will complete a key missing link in Pakistan’s north-south high-speed road network.
Officials believe the project could improve logistics efficiency, reduce travel times, and support trade flows across the country.
The development is also part of broader efforts to complete the Peshawar–Karachi Motorway corridor, considered a major transport infrastructure project for Pakistan.
