Apple is quietly testing a ChatGPT-style app on iPhones, according to internal sources familiar with the project. The app is designed to help engineers shape the next generation of Siri, powered by large language models.
Codenamed “Veritas,” meaning “truth,” the tool mirrors ChatGPT in functionality. It allows users to chat with Apple’s LLM while storing past conversations. However, the app is strictly for internal use. Apple has no plans to release it publicly, as executives remain cautious about entering the crowded AI chatbot market.
Inside Apple’s AI division, Veritas is being used to trial advanced Siri features. Engineers are testing its ability to search across personal content, including emails, songs, photos, and videos.
