Apple is preparing a major upgrade for Siri, transforming the voice assistant into a chatbot-style helper across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Sources say the company plans to replace the current Siri with a smarter assistant powered by Google’s Gemini AI.
According to the source, the new Siri, internally called Campos, will arrive with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Unlike the current Siri, it will act more like a standalone app built directly into Apple devices. Users can activate it with the “Siri” wake word or by holding the side button.
The assistant will support natural language conversations similar to ChatGPT and Gemini. It will be able to search the web, answer questions, summarize text, generate images, analyze uploaded documents, and interact with on-screen content. Users will also be able to control device settings, and the assistant can use personal data to complete specific tasks.
The source adds that the chatbot will be closely integrated into Apple apps, allowing it to access content and perform actions within those apps. It will support both voice and text interactions, although it may not have the persistent memory features found in some competing AI assistants.
Apple is expected to officially reveal the new Siri chatbot at WWDC 2026.
