Apple has spent years exploring new ways to expand its smart home series. Now, fresh reports suggest the company may finally introduce its long-rumored home hub device this fall. For months, industry watchers have referred to the device as “HomePad,” although the official name remains unknown.
The upcoming device is expected to feature a 7-inch square display along with a front-facing camera. The screen would act as a central control point for smart home devices. At the same time, it could also support video calls and other interactive features.
Reports suggest that Apple is testing two different hardware designs. One version will likely mount directly on a wall, turning it into a fixed control panel. The second version may include a speaker base similar to the HomePod mini. That model could sit on a kitchen counter, desk, or side table.
The device may also include built-in sensors that detect when someone is nearby. As a result, the screen could automatically adjust what it shows. For example, it may display personalized information depending on who is standing in front of it.
Voice interaction will also play a central role. Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, is expected to power many of the device’s features. Some reports even suggest that Siri could receive a new visual interface designed specifically for this product.
Pricing expectations currently sit around $350. Earlier rumors suggested the device would arrive in early 2024. However, Apple’s challenges in developing new AI features reportedly slowed progress.
Because of those delays, the expected launch was first shifted to late 2025. Now, the latest timeline points to late 2026. If the reports prove accurate, this fall could finally bring Apple’s long-awaited smart home hub to market.
