Embark Studios recently announced exciting details for the third Expedition in its hit extraction shooter, ARC Raiders. Next Tuesday, April 28, the developers will launch the highly anticipated Riven Tides update. Meanwhile, the upcoming Expedition introduces a major change to seasonal progression. Unlike previous seasons, players cannot buy skill points anymore.
A Major Shift in Expedition Skill Points
Previously, players earned extra Skill Points after the Expedition by exchanging Stash Value and Coins. However, Embark Studios is changing this mechanic. Now, players must deal damage over a five-day window to earn their five additional Skill Points. You can use any weapon or gadget against any target. Practice range targets are the only exception.
The Expedition window opens on April 28 and closes on May 4. Therefore, players have exactly five days to sign up and complete the damage challenge. Before departing, you must also contribute resources to build your in-game Caravan.
Catch-Up Mechanics & Permanent Rewards
Fortunately, the Catch Up mechanic returns for players who missed previous Expeditions. You can still purchase old missed Skill Points using Stash Value or Coins. Each missed point costs 300,000 Coins or Stash Value. You can catch up on a maximum of five Skill Points. Ultimately, players on their third Expedition can reach a total of 91 Skill Points.
Besides Skill Points, the third Expedition offers fantastic permanent rewards. For instance, players earn 12 additional Stash space slots per Expedition completed. You will also unlock the evolved Patchwork outfit. This cosmetic features new toggles allowing you to remove the helmet, bandolier, and leg accessories. Additionally, it comes in White Red and Black Green color variations. Other cosmetic rewards include a Scrappy Turban and an upgraded Expedition Indicator icon.
Finally, consecutive players receive powerful buffs. If you complete consecutive Expeditions, you earn up to a 15% XP boost, an 18% Scrappy materials boost, and an 80% Repair value increase. However, missing an Expedition window completely resets these consecutive buffs.
The Riven Tides Update & New ARC Raiders Content
The Riven Tides update serves as the fourth and final content drop on the ARC Raiders 2026 roadmap. Consequently, fans can expect significant additions. The free patch will introduce a brand-new map. Furthermore, players will face a massive new ARC enemy. This new threat presumably acts similarly to the Queen and Matriarch bosses.
