The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has requested a major schedule change. Consequently, commercial banks and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs collections have extended their working hours. This crucial extension will last until June 30, 2026.
The government took this step to facilitate the timely payment of government duties and taxes. Therefore, taxpayers can make their payments smoothly through Over-the-Counter (OTC) services and Alternate Delivery Channels (ADCs).
Extended Working Hours for Bank Branches
To keep things clear, officials have issued a specific timeline. Today, Saturday, June 27, all Saturday-opening branches of commercial banks and NBP customs branches will remain open from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
Furthermore, the extended hours will continue into the following weekdays. Here is the complete breakdown of the revised timings:
| Date | Bank Type | Extended Working Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday, June 27 (Today) | Commercial (Saturday-opening) & NBP Customs | 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM |
| Monday, June 29 | Commercial & NBP Customs | Until 08:00 PM |
| Tuesday, June 30 | Commercial Banks | Until 10:00 PM |
| Tuesday, June 30 | NBP Customs Branches | Until 11:59 PM |
Special Clearing & Digital Payments
Besides extending regular hours, banks received further instructions regarding final clearances. Specifically, banks must keep their branches operational beyond the newly stipulated hours if required. This ensures the Special Clearing of government transactions processed by the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT) goes through without a hitch.
Additionally, physical branch operations are not the only focus. Banks must ensure the uninterrupted availability of their digital payment channels throughout this entire period. As a result, taxpayers can confidently rely on internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs, and other online platforms. Ultimately, this guarantees the seamless online payment of government duties and taxes right up to the fiscal deadline.
