Bill Gates, founder of tech-giant Microsoft, has once again become the richest man on the planet with a net worth of $87.4 billion, beating the second-most richest man by a mind-boggling margin of over $20 billion.

Despite his consistent efforts of trying to give his wealth away in philanthropy and eradicating the world from diseases like malaria, Bill Gates has remained in the list of the richest people on the planet. Wealth-X, a wealth-tracking website, revealed its latest figures on 110,000 ultra-high-net-worth people, indicating Bill Gates ultra-high net worth of $87.4 billion, way above the other people in the list. By tracking each person’s assets and adjusting “to account for currency-exchange rates, local taxes, savings rates, investment performance, and other factors”, they evaluate a person’s net worth.

The list of even the top 10 most richest men is jam-packed with tech-billionaires, including Amazon Founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos (4th with a net worth of $56.6 billion), Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison (7th with a net worth of $45.3 billion) and Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg (8th with a net worth of $42.8 Billion). The list only mentions the top 50 billionaires in the world for that, at least $14.3 billion net worth is required.

In 1987, Gates was first included into the list of world’s wealthiest men by Forbes. Later on, from the 1995 to 2007 period, Gates held the crown of being the wealthiest men in the world, losing out to Warren Buffet in 2008 but bounced back to the top in 2009. For the next five years during 2009-2014, he remained second but after nearly doubling his wealth from $40 billion to $82 billion, he came right back on top in 2014.
