Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has extended the deadline of registering second IMEI by Sept 15, 2019.

Earlier PTA asked all the dual sim, mobile phone users, to register the second IMEI of their phones till Aug 31. International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a number issued to every mobile phone device. Every dual sim phone has two different IMEI numbers given to it at the time of manufacturing.

PTA has been registering all the mobile phone devices operating in the country, after the first attempt, they realized that mobile phone users with dual sim capability are only registering one IMEI number of the device. So they started another campaign earlier this month to register the second IMEI number.

In a public notice, PTA announced the extension in the deadline and also explained the procedure to register the devices which have one IMEI registered and 2nd IMEI not registered.

Procedure to Register Second IMEI:

Write an Email to typeapproval@pta.gov.pk with following details:
  • The subject of the email should be “One Slot Registered 2nd Slot Not Registered“
  • Screenshot of the device showing all IMEI numbers
  • One CNIC copy attached to the email
  • Contact details of the applicant
Many of the users are not aware of if the IMEIs of their phone is registered or not, so here is how you can check if your phone is registered or not:
  • First, you need to know what are the IMEIs of your phone.
  • you can simply go to the settings and then in About section, you can find IMEI Numbers,
  • or you can just dial *#06# from your phone.
  • Either send that IMEIs one by one on 8484 in a text message or
  • open PTA Website to check online.
  • There is an app for android users too.
It is very important to know that PTA is serious about registering the unregistered mobile phone devices in the country. if you do not register your phone before Sept 15, you may lose your cell phone.
