Dubai Launches AI-Powered ‘Salama’ Platform for Instant Residency Visa Renewals

Dubai has introduced an AI-powered digital platform that enables residents to renew their residency visas within minutes. Launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), the new system aims to simplify and speed up the renewal process.

The platform, called Salama, eliminates the need for paperwork and long wait times by allowing users to download their updated documents instantly. Once logged in, the system automatically identifies user details, provides information on dependent visa statuses, and displays the number of days left before expiration.

Residents can choose their preferred renewal period, and the request is processed almost immediately. Previously, the renewal process could take up to three hours, depending on document accuracy and completeness.

Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, highlighted that with all required documents in place, the renewal process now takes just one to two minutes.

At present, the platform is exclusively for residency visa renewals, but there are plans to expand it to include visitors and tourists in future updates.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, emphasized that this digital transformation is a significant step in enhancing government service efficiency and improving the overall customer experience.
