The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle arrested a travel agent in Hyderabad accused of defrauding a citizen of Rs480,000 with a false promise of a Saudi Arabia employment visa.
The suspect, identified as Shahmeer, allegedly took the money from Aftab Ismail on the pretext of securing him a driver’s job in Saudi Arabia, the FIA said.
Instead of an employment visa, the suspect allegedly sent the complainant to Saudi Arabia on a visit visa. Upon arrival, Ismail was assigned manual labour rather than the promised driving job.
The agency said the suspect has returned Rs275,000 to the complainant, while Rs205,000 remains unpaid.
A case has been registered against the travel agent under the Immigration Ordinance. The FIA is investigating the alleged fraud and the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the visit visa.
Earlier this week, FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Rawalpindi arrested two suspects in a Turkish work visa fraud case and recovered Rs1.05 million taken from a citizen.
An FIA spokesperson said the suspects, Liaquat Ali and Katib Younis, were taken into custody under case No. 729/2026. They allegedly obtained the entire amount from the complainant by promising to arrange an employment visa for Türkiye.
Officials said the roles of other individuals linked to the fraud will be determined as the investigation proceeds. The FIA Islamabad Zone said legal action will continue against networks involved in human trafficking and visa fraud.
Last week, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested four suspects in Islamabad for allegedly defrauding citizens through fake visa and air ticket services advertised in WhatsApp groups, offering forged travel documents instead of genuine ones.
