Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made the registration SMS for the fuel subsidy scheme completely free of charge, in a fresh move to facilitate low and middle-income vehicle owners.
According to a press release issued by the PM Office Media Wing, the prime minister directed that the SMS required to register under the Petrol Subsidy Scheme no longer carry any charge. The scheme provides fuel subsidies to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800cc.
Relief under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Subsidy Scheme is being extended nationwide, including in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
To register, applicants must send an SMS to 9771 typing REG, followed by a space, their CNIC number, vehicle number plate, the first letter of the province where the vehicle is registered, and the vehicle’s registration date. This message is now free of cost.
